For the price of a single
workshop we are giving you the opportunity to take your pick
and enjoy the range of our activities. We will run special
taster workshops, meditation, and live music, including:
Darbouka (goblet drum)
Sufi frame-drum
Mevlevi (Whirling Dervish) turning practice
Bellydance workshop with live music
Passionate Sufi meditation (with chants and sacred movements).
Live music by Caravansary Daf Ensemble, Dervish Fire, and
ney recitals
Interactive drum-jam
And the Silk Road flavour

dance. A chance to learn the shimmies and drops with live

Mevlevi Turning
Introduction to the famous
‘whirling dervish’ tradition of the Mevlevi Order
initiated by Mevlana Jalalluddin Rumi. Includes philosophy
and practice of the ‘turning’, and live ney music.
5:30-6:30
Sufi Meditation
All Sufi orders practice zikr
(remembrance of God). This congregational meditation is powerful
and ecstatic with chants and sacred movements. No belief is
required, only an open heart. All welcome but please note
this meditation is not suitable for children to attend.

*Hıdrellez Festival, is still celebrated with grand ceremonies in Anatolia, has been celebrated since ancient times. Although it is celebrated under different names and in different times, it is possible to see the motifs of Hıdrellez in many places. The arrival of spring and awakening of nature have been perceived man as a phenomenon to be celebrated.
